Ronya Banks

Ronya Banks is is based in Asheville, NC USA, and is the founding teacher of the Asheville Insight Meditation group.  In addition to having lived as a Theravada Buddhist nun, Ronya’s teachings are informed by 36 years of intensive Vipassana meditation practice, studying with more than 30 different Buddhist teachers, spending over a year cumulatively on numerous silent meditation retreats, and her participation in the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader training program.  

Ronya has been teaching for over a decade.  She leads residential and online meditation retreats and has worked with people from all over the world.  She has supplemented her passion for Buddhism with over 25 years of business management and entrepreneurial experience.  With an approachable personality, Ronya is known for being able to distill complex subjects into easily digestible teachings.  

Born originally in Kuwait and of Palestinian-American descent, Ronya values diversity, inclusiveness, and respect for all beings.
