Day of Practice

Saturday, July 8th

Not One, Not Two,
Not None: Duality,
Non-Duality and Beyond

7-10am PT / 10am-1pm ET / 3-6pm BST / 4-7pm CEST

Deepen your understanding of self and of reality

The term non-duality, or non-dual, is sometimes used in the Buddhist and Advaita traditions to describe the nature of self, reality and phenomena. And yet there is much confusion about the meaning, relevance, and application of this term.

So Martin is here to clarify! During this 3-hour Day of Practice, our founding and guiding teacher Martin Aylward will lead us in exploring, pointing out and practicing in the territory of the non-dual.

We will look into, through and beyond ideas of unity, separation, independent and interdependent existence. And we will also put all those ideas aside, so as to taste the true nectar of the non-dual – which is ease, simplicity and non-contentiousness with the dharma of each moment.

If that sounds right up your street, or if it sounds just plain confusing and you’d like not to be so confused, come along and join Martin.

The day will include such explorations as:

  • Non-dual, or objectless meditation
  • How the rhetoric of non-duality creates new subtle dualities, and how to avoid them
  • The ‘advaita shuffle’ and the ‘as if’ orientation to reality

What is Day of Practice?

Sangha Live’s 3-hour, LIVE Day of Practice allows for you to drop in deeper, develop your meditation skills, and reset your intentions through sustained sitting.

Days of Practice includes longer periods of meditation, interspersed with wise teachings, an interactive Q&A with our teacher, and more.

Replay access will be available to all registrants within 48 hours of the live session.

How is Day of Practice different from Sangha Live’s Daily/Sunday classes?

Our shorter Daily Meditation (60 mins) and Sunday Sangha (90 mins) programs emphasize dharma teachings, while our longer Days of Practice (3 hours) emphasize development of meditation practice.

Daily practice is crucial for watering seeds of mindfulness, but extended periods of deep attention such as these, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, can be uniquely fruitful.

Cost

Day of Practice is offered on a sliding scale basis, with a suggested rate of $35. We wholeheartedly welcome all to practice with us; no one turned away for lack of funds.
