The Timeless Nature of Ageing

with Sophie Boyer

7-10 am PDT / 10 am-1 pm EDT / 3-6 pm BST / 4-7 pm CEST

Discover the ageless presence at the heart of your experience

We often think of ageing from a linear perspective of time. Something that arrives at a certain age, after retirement, or when our bodies begin to show signs of change.

And yet, from the moment we are born, we are already in the stream of ageing. Although we know this intellectually, it remains difficult to fully integrate this reality in our everyday life.

For this reason, this time of life can give rise to all sorts of fear – fear of illness, fear of isolation, fear of grief, fear of losing control.

But when we turn toward it in presence, we may find something far deeper: a timelessness that is here in every moment, untouched by the passing of years.

In this Day of Practice, Sophie Boyer invites us to awaken to the intimate, timeless nature of reality, and realize that the journey of ageing we traverse is always traversed here.

Together we’ll explore how to recognize the unchanging immediacy of sensation, even as life moves through its inevitable cycles. And through meditation, reflection, and shared dialogue, Sophie will guide us in bringing clarity to the natural law of change, and how to meet the fears it can awaken with greater ease and confidence.

What is Day of Practice?

Sangha Live’s 3-hour, LIVE Day of Practice allows for you to drop in deeper, develop your meditation skills, and reset your intentions through sustained sitting.

Days of Practice includes longer periods of meditation, interspersed with wise teachings, an interactive Q&A with our teacher, and more.

Replay access will be available to all registrants within 48 hours of the live session.

How is Day of Practice different from Sangha Live’s Daily/Sunday classes?

Our shorter Daily Meditation (60 mins) and Sunday Sangha (90 mins) programs emphasize dharma teachings, while our longer Days of Practice (3 hours) emphasize development of meditation practice.

Daily practice is crucial for watering seeds of mindfulness, but extended periods of deep attention such as these, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, can be uniquely fruitful.

Cost

Day of Practice is offered on a sliding scale basis, with a suggested rate of $35. We wholeheartedly welcome all to practice with us; no one turned away for lack of funds.

About Sophie Boyer

Sophie Boyer

Sophie was born in France. She started practicing Buddhist meditation in 2000 during her time providing nursing care. After 10 years spent in hospices surrounded by the theme of aging, sickness and death, she became more interested in exploring long silent meditation retreats in Europe, and in the United States (Gaia House, Insight Mediation Society, Forest Refuge). She spent over 2 years in Asia (Myanmar) as a Buddhist nun. She later disrobed in 2013.

Sophie completed the Dharma Teacher Training at the Bodhi College (UK) and has been trained to teach the MBCAS program (mindfulness based cognitive approach for seniors).

Sophie lives on the French border, near to Geneva, where she teaches meditation classes in the oncology ward of a hospital. She mainly teaches retreats in France and is part of the Terre d’Eveil teacher council. She is very interested in bringing people and wildlife together in intimate connection through contemplative practice and retreats in nature. Click here to learn more about Sophie Boyer.
