This week’s theme: The Beauty of Impermanence, a Doorway to Freedom

“If we were never to fade away…how things would lose their power to move us. Because we will fade away, we are moved, because we are moved, we realise more deeply that we will fade away.”
– Keith Dowman

If I had to sum up Buddhism in one word, it might be impermanence. Often, it’s impermanence that brings us to the Dharma in the first place – through grief, loss and fear. But impermanence isn’t only something painful. It’s also a doorway to freedom, a doorway to insight. In this workshop, I’ll share my own explorations of the Japanese aesthetic known as wabi-sabi – a way of finding beauty in impermanence.

This session is freely-offered, but dana/donations are invited to help us meet our substantial running costs and to support our teachers. To donate, please click here. We appreciate your generosity 🙏

Vajradarshini

Vajradarshini is known for her down-to-earth approach to Dharma practice, combining depth and clarity with warmth and humour. Ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1997, she is a well-loved and respected teacher within that community. Her teaching draws widely on the Buddhist tradition as well as on contemporary art and culture, which she weaves together with imagination to create retreats that are engaging and thought-provoking.

Over many years, she has lived and practised in Buddhist communities and retreat centres across the UK and Europe, and has taught widely around the world, finding ways to make deep Dharma accessible and relatable.

More recently, she has been putting down roots in the countryside of southern Sweden, where she lives with her wife. From their home, The Guesthouse, they now run small, intimate retreats that offer people a space for reflection and creativity, in connection with the Dharma, while being in close relationship with the natural world.
