Imagination: An Integral Aspect of Liberating the Heart

Our heart/mind is naturally creative; it foresees, remembers, dreams, and perceives.

The products of our imagination shape our intentions, expanding the realm of possibilities beyond what we’ve learned, seen, or experienced thus far.

We can give ourselves permission to imagine and co-create our lives. And once this is cultivated and the doors of perception are more opened, our imaginal and liminal states can become the skillful means to be with what is and what is yet to become.

One of the best images for this sensitive balancing relationship with all things is a deeply rooted and flexible tree in a windy storm. The tree, equipoised, does not resist the wind, bending and yielding to its force. Yet, well nourished from the root, it returns to noble uprightness as soon as the pressure passes.

Confidence in the Dhamma, Confidence in Yourself

As we attune to the truth of impermanence (anicca) the very preciousness of life itself begins to penetrate our awareness: the flowers will not last forever, our dear friends will come and go, those we love will grow old.
