Life as Path: Transforming Obstacles into Opportunities

with Celeste Young

7-10 am PDT / 10 am-1 pm EDT / 3-6 pm BST / 4-7 pm CEST

Learn to work with what you've got – this life, this mind, this experience

In this Day of Practice with mindfulness and meditation teacher Celeste Young, we’ll explore the inner obstacles to clear seeing and awakening known in Buddhist psychology as the Five Hindrances: greed, aversion, sloth and torpor, restlessness, and doubt.

Rather than viewing these mind states as problems to overcome, we will learn how to turn toward them with mindfulness, curiosity, and care.

Together, we’ll come to understand the Five Hindrances as natural patterns of mind rather than personal failures, discovering how they can become sources of insight rather than frustration. And through experiential practice and reflection, we’ll begin to relate to these challenges with more confidence and compassion.

The practice unfolds as a gradual deepening – from recognition, to understanding, to skillful response – transforming our relationship to these difficult states. Through guided meditation, periods of silent practice, and reflective teachings, Celeste offers a supportive container for meeting challenges as gateways rather than barriers on the path.

What is Day of Practice?

Sangha Live’s 3-hour, LIVE Day of Practice allows for you to drop in deeper, develop your meditation skills, and reset your intentions through sustained sitting.

Days of Practice includes longer periods of meditation, interspersed with wise teachings, an interactive Q&A with our teacher, and more.

Replay access will be available to all registrants within 48 hours of the live session.

How is Day of Practice different from Sangha Live’s Daily/Sunday classes?

Our shorter Daily Meditation (60 mins) and Sunday Sangha (90 mins) programs emphasize dharma teachings, while our longer Days of Practice (3 hours) emphasize development of meditation practice.

Daily practice is crucial for watering seeds of mindfulness, but extended periods of deep attention such as these, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, can be uniquely fruitful.

Cost

Day of Practice is offered on a sliding scale basis, with a suggested rate of $35. We wholeheartedly welcome all to practice with us; no one turned away for lack of funds.
