Human voice is a powerful instrument, and all the contemplative and transformational practice traditions employ some form of mantra, chant, or intonement – harnessing sounds, resonance, breath and the effect on the body’s energy channels to enhance meditative practice and experience.
Using mantra or chanting in our practice grounds us in the body, in the felt sense of the present moment. Sound becomes a doorway to deeper contemplation, and the voice becomes a bridge between inner stillness and outward expression.
This will be the theme of an upcoming Day of Practice with Sangha Live’s founding teacher Martin Aylward. Martin has always loved chanting, and appreciated the power of mantra, yet it is somewhat underused in western dharma practice.
Together we’ll explore this ancient and powerful practice that aligns mind, body, and spirit in a profound way.
