We often think of the darkness as an absence of light, but the darkness – we discover through practice – offers a unique invitation and restorative medicine.
Darkness – both physical and symbolic – reveals the unknown and embodies depth, making space for new discoveries, transformation, and insight. Darkness offers the gentle quiet we need to pause, listen deeply, and connect with what is hidden within us.
When we embrace the darkness as our teacher, we begin to realize that the darkness itself contains the potential for new perspectives, inner vision, and the integration of all parts of ourselves. Here, within this deep restfulness, we nurture a vital relationship with the unknown, reclaiming it as a sanctuary of growth, wonder, and fierce compassion.
This will be our practice in a *Live* 2-part series led by senior dharma teacher and author of Luminous Darkness: An Engaged Buddhist Approach to Embracing the Unknown, Deborah Eden Tull.
Together we will engage in meditation, deep listening, somatic inquiry, relational mindfulness, guided visualization, and dharma discussion with the intention of befriending the night and exploring the invitation of Endarkenment alongside Enlightenment.
“The first step to understanding endarkenment is to become curious about darkness beyond your familiar associations. Be open to what you don’t know that you don’t know . . . about darkness and light, about your- self, about the mystery itself. We can learn to meet the unknown and the experience of not knowing with an open and humble heart, much more full of wonder and willingness than fear.” –Deborah Eden Tull
