Most of us know that quiet, insistent voice: the one that says you should have done better, or what’s wrong with you?
And most of us meet it in one of two ways: We believe it completely and sink into shame and self-blame – or we push it away, distract ourselves, and try not to feel anything at all.
We long to live from integrity and kindness, yet find ourselves driven or paralysed by this inner voice that judges, belittles, and shames.
In this Day of Practice with insight meditation teacher Ulla Koenig, we will gently learn how we can relate to the parts of ourselves we usually avoid – the impulses, habits, and behaviours that don’t fit our ideal self – and learn to meet them with clarity, honesty, and care.
Together we’ll explore the inner critic as an ethical function that wants us to live by our deepest values, while recognising how its harshness creates suffering and closes the heart. Supported by teachings on non‑self and wise accountability, guided practices, and shared reflection, participants will experiment with new ways of relating to the inner critic that honour our values without self‑loathing.
