James Rafael
James Rafael is a mindfulness and movement teacher, living and teaching in the joyful chaos of central London. He began formal practice in 2011 under the teachings of S. N. Goenka during a time of substance addiction and burnout, while living in Soho. He is a yoga, somatics, and qigong teacher, having been trained and authorised to teach mindfulness through Martin Aylward and Mark Coleman. He has been sober since 2015.
He read English at Cambridge University and emphasises the importance of inclusive language, mindful communication, the power of poetry, and creating queer-inclusive, progressive spaces to learn and practice in. He leads retreats, teacher trainings, and workshops internationally and online via his online platform. Key influences in his teaching have been S. N. Goenka, Charlotte Joko Beck, Martin Aylward, and Mark Coleman. Click here to learn more about James Rafael.
