Ruth King
Ruth King is the Founder of Mindful of Race Institute, LLC, and is a celebrated author, educator, and meditation teacher. King’s Mindful of Race Institute offers the Mindful of Race framework through online educational programs designed for leaders, influencers, teams, and organizations. She integrates mindfulness-based principles with an exploration of our racial conditioning, its impact, and our collective potential. With a rich background in organizational consulting, clinical psychology, and mindfulness meditation rooted in Theravada Buddhism, King teaches meditation retreats to leaders worldwide at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Insight Meditation Society, Sounds True, Insight Timer, and the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program.
As a world traveler, King brings a global perspective to her work. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, CA, and has authored several publications, including Healing Rage: Women Making Inner Peace Possible, The Emotional Wisdom Cards, and her most recent book, Mindful of Race: Transforming Racism from the Inside Out. Patrisse Cullors, cofounder of Black Lives Matter, praises her latest work, saying, “This book belongs in the hands of every activist, regardless of race.”
King’s work is featured in several notable publications including the 2021 edition of Chicken Soup for the Soul’s I’m Speaking Now: Black Women Share Their Truth; the Spring 2022 issue of YES!
