Living by Vow

With Pamela Weiss recorded on July 23, 2023.

To live by vow is a radical reorientation – from reactivity to response-ability, and from fear to love.

This session will examine what it means to walk the spiritual path, and consider the importance of inspiration, aspiration and aligned, appropriate action.

Together we will explore the tenderness and power of meeting the world from what the Zen teacher Shunryu Suzuki called “the heart’s inmost request”.

Please note that the recording of this session starts some way into the meditation.

Daily Meditation Recordings, with Sophie Boyer – Week of March 27, 2022

This week’s topic is “Movement in Stillness”. The flow of life is unpredictable, and its instability and the changes it presents often throw us off balance. The Buddha suggests adopting an approach where beauty and freedom can emerge at the center of this “movement in stillness.” Throughout this week, we will explore the challenges that arise when facing the realities of birth, life, and death, and how open, stable attention and clear perception can support a deeper understanding of the natural flow of all things.

  • The Importance of the Uplifting Experience

The Buddha taught about life’s suffering—known as ‘dukkha’—and how our personal, social and global issues can weigh us down. Yet dukkha does not have the inherent power to stop ‘sukkha,’ or happiness, from breaking through. In this session, we will explore ‘upliftment’, and the joys that keep our spirit alive. Upliftment of the human spirit…
