Monasticism and the practice of the Inner Way are being transformed by contemporary culture. What is the ‘Way’ today? Is there such a thing as a ‘Natural-Way-of-Being’? And what is ‘Enlightenment’? In this talk, we will explore these questions, and how to approach a vision that includes enlightenment.
With Richard Baker Rōshi recorded on July 12, 2026.

Daily Meditation Recordings, with Jaya Rudgard – Week of 11 May, 2026
This week’s theme is: Less Stuck Than We Think
When we find ourselves feeling stuck, it may be that we are less so than we think. Even in circumstances beyond our control, there is some possibility of agency and freedom. These daily sessions will support us to find the ground under our feet and investigate ways we stick to experiences and they to us, and what we can do to set ourselves free.

Daily Meditation Recordings, with Ulla Koenig – Week of March 28, 2022
This week’s topic is Shelter from the Storm. Whether it is restlessness, worry, anxiety, panic, worry or rumination, all aspects of fear have one thing in common: they rob us of our peace of mind. If fear governs our perspective, we are focused on that which is potentially problematic. Unable to settle down and rest, we often feel exhausted by the relentless activity of our mind. The Buddha invited us to find in our practice ‘a Shelter, a Harbour, a Refuge’. In this week together, we’ll explore the underlying dynamics of fear, learn ways to soothe our minds and gain access to a sense of safety and peacefulness right here and right now.

The Delusion of Separateness
Recorded :
October 27, 2019 There seems to be a sense of disorientation, disjointedness and overall running around in circles happening in the world today. And for some reason, many of us think that we’re the only ones who are feeling it; as if it’s our own personal failing. As we move into the changing of seasons, this is the…

We will explore and practice these states and…

Peace in this very everyday life.

January 31, 2016 In the best of circumstances the path of life is a bumpy road. The practice of embodied presence opens the possibility to understand and transform our habits of dissatisfaction and distraction, and invites spaciousness and openness in our day-to-day lives. Becoming intimate, moment by moment, with living reality may expand our life-perspective and attune us…

Why Meditate?
Recorded :
February 18, 2024 Many people have encountered the Buddha’s teachings when learning to meditate. Many more people in the world, however, have learned about the Buddha through stories imparting lessons about how to live wisely. Why is there so much emphasis on meditation? What else is there in the teachings to support wise and ethical living?
Thank you 💗🙏
thank you Richard
Very interesting! Stillness, relationality versus reality, and the attraction of the monastic life that so few of us will experience. Rather than watching the mind, feeling and being the surface of the mind and then going deeper as a more stable mind. I definitely need to watch that session again!!
