Suppleness and Softness:
Meditation and Qigong
for a Fluid New Year

with Mimi Kuo-Deemer

7-10am PT / 10am-1pm ET / 3-6pm GMT / 4-7pm CET

Flow into the new year through embodying and embracing two powerful life companions: suppleness and softness.

Rather than resisting or hardening against the difficulties we face in life, Buddhist and Daoist teachings point to the possibilities of responding to the challenges we face with the suppleness and softness of clear, flowing water.

This Day of Practice with Mimi Kuo-Deemer will help you to better align with the ever-changing experiences of life’s fluid unfolding through dharma talks, qigong practices, meditation, and opportunities for questions, comments and reflections.

Through the complementary practices of meditation and qigong, we will attune to how suppleness and softness can help us free up rigid mental and emotional holding patterns, and allow for a more spacious way of moving, breathing and being.

Please note: All levels are welcome, and options for seated qigong practices will be offered.

Join Mimi’s session to learn:

  • An understanding of how suppleness and softness are related to the energy and phase of Water in qigong and Chinese medicine
  • Guided standing, sitting and lying meditations to cultivate these qualities in your practice
  • How water’s supple, soft nature mirrors the impermanence, non-grasping and adaptable nature of Buddha’s teachings on the Middle Way
  • 5 qigong water-based forms that can help connect you with these life companions of suppleness and softness

What is Day of Practice?

Sangha Live’s 3-hour, LIVE Day of Practice allows for you to drop in deeper, develop your meditation skills, and reset your intentions through sustained sitting.

Days of Practice includes longer periods of meditation, interspersed with wise teachings, an interactive Q&A with our teacher, and more.

Replay access will be available to all registrants within 48 hours of the live session.

How is Day of Practice different from Sangha Live’s Daily/Sunday classes?

Our shorter Daily Meditation (60 mins) and Sunday Sangha (90 mins) programs emphasize dharma teachings, while our longer Days of Practice (3 hours) emphasize development of meditation practice.

Daily practice is crucial for watering seeds of mindfulness, but extended periods of deep attention such as these, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, can be uniquely fruitful.

Cost

Day of Practice is offered on a sliding scale basis, with a suggested rate of $35. We wholeheartedly welcome all to practice with us; no one turned away for lack of funds.
