Sunday Sangha – 3rd May 2026

Jill Satterfield

This session is led by Jill Satterfield.

Start Time: 11 am PDT (LA) / 2 pm EDT (NY) / 7 pm BST (London) / 8 pm CEST (Paris). 90-minute live session.

This week’s theme: Of Two Minds: The Mind of the Body, the Mind of the Mind

Awareness opens doors to discovery – the Buddha emphasized it, and science is proving it. We have two minds that work together, yet the body knows before the mind cognizes. The Buddha’s teaching of Nāmarūpa – mind and body as two forms of consciousness – honors the body’s deep wisdom. How the mind elaborates on unrecognized sense signals is a root of suffering. We’ll explore ways to cut that stream of proliferating stories.

This session is freely-offered, but dana/donations are invited to help us meet our substantial running costs and to support our teachers. To donate, please click here. We appreciate your generosity 🙏

Jill Satterfield

Jill Satterfield has been a quiet pioneer in the integration of embodied awareness practices and Buddhist teachings for over 30 years. Her heart/mind and body approach developed from somatic and contemplative psychology, 35 years of Buddhist study, extensive meditation retreat time and decades of living with chronic pain.

At the invitation of her primary teacher, Ajahn Amaro, Jill was the first to offer mindful movement and somatic practices on silent retreats – first at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and then at the Insight Meditation Society. She has since developed teacher trainings and mentoring programs that integrate embodied awareness with Dharma ever since.

Jill is a graduate of the Sati Center’s Buddhist Chaplaincy Training, and she was the scholar and teacher in residence at Kripalu Center in 2003. She is also on the faculty for Spirit Rock’s Mindful Yoga and Meditation Training, and her Applied Embodied Mindfulness Trainings is a part of UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center. Jill is currently a mentor for Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach’s Mindfulness Teacher Training. Click here to learn more about Jill Satterfield.
